A friend who spent a lot of time in Norway told me that she saw a lot of this mode of easy bed-making: Use a down comforter (with a duvet cover) and a fitted sheet and top sheet. No blanket.

My friend added that couples generally have two twin-sized comforters, as well, to avoid comforter hogging.
