Elgin marbles: how to pay the rent
by optas
Setting aside "what is right" for a moment, there is a similar but perhaps more politically palatable option for repatriating the Elgin marbles/Parthenon frieze.

In exchange for a permanent return of the Elgin marbles, Greece can offer to the British museum a mutually agreed upon, rotating collection of Greek antiquities for the next, say, 200 years.

Greece is a country rich in such antiquities, so finding suitable exhibits should not be a problem. Moreover, the fact that this would be a rotating collection, lent out for, say, 5 years at a time should make it easier for Greece to be rather generous in its offerings.

Disclaimer: I am not, in any way, suggesting that the above is "fair". I am only saying that it seems relatively politically palatable.

I believe it is only moral for museums to give back antiquities they removed from countries that were not able to protect their history.

Your suggestion is excellent. Cooperation will make more antiquities available to museums and the public.

Maybe OJ Simpson should have worked out a similar deal.

I'm impressed OIFvet. That was very funny.
