dissolving. almost drowns but not quite
by richard

This mood manages to keep afloat, but just barely.

While it does set a mood of aquatic tranquility it

also floats into choppy waters

"on his back in the female receptive position"

is an awkward image and in the last few lines

the poet drifts over his head as he frantically treads water.

I, too, thought this image was disconcerting, richard, so I'm glad you brought it up since I forgot to mention it in my review.

I think the poet was trying to describe the man as passively waiting to receive forgetfulness from the water and air and light. But the phrase's connotation of sexual activity distracted me.
