Thanks for the warm and touching reminsicence. Catholic Boy meant a great deal to me about 30 years ago, and if I can find my cassette (and if it still plays), I'll have a little reunion.

"People Who Died" was a little shocking in its day, and Carroll was criticized for his seemingly callous attitude. I recall hearing him patiently explain in a radio interview that his song was intended as a celebration of his friends' lives. Nice to know that the people who loved him saw him off in a similar spirit.
