well the usual (without the "order" comment) would be A (one end of a spectrum) gets you to B gets you to C ... gets you to N (other end of the spectrum) but I ain't seeing it. close, in most ways, to the most obvious, but not close enough. the usual would also be that "special" is a clue, but not seeing that either (including most obvious connotation).

so if it's not spectrum it's category, or a category of similar categories. still can't get there. distant and foggy memories of some (Ender) seeing skitch (obvious doesn't-fit item in the group) sympathetic to something or other likely closely related to the others there, 50-50 that that thing whatever it was is involved.

dunno. (so why bother? well there you go ..)

I care. I want to understand.

Were I sober I probably wouldn't care..hell I wouldn't open this box. So I'm curious and yet frustrated by your post. I admire that mind of yours but this feels pointless and Gatewoodian. Would you be willing to explain this? Is this insidiously fraycentric? Insidious is a favorite word of mine. Man I'm flyin'. Ground control to major Tom ...

How are your shoulders? Well...mine are much better. At least they work...the pain has left but I have 6 months worth of rehab, at least, to break up the last of the adhesians. Mostly I find myself settling at 80%. AC (adhesive capsulitis) prognosis 3 years. Chopping wood, or building something is better medicine than PT. I'm moving way up into a remote isolated canyon; the locals call it a way of life. If this doesn't rip the final adhesians, it might be perm. Ugh.
Gatewoodian?

I am flattered. I am also boggled. I am frequently boggled and so that's nothing new; but I am seldom blindsided with flattery -- however obscurely meant -- and for that I thank you. I won't even ask for an explanation. I don't want to kill the buzz.

Are you sure you don't have a really bad case of this?

I suspect the reason why is some sort of nefarious plot on your end to bring about the total destruction of the Fray.

cats.

You're the guy who addresses women whom you don't know with "it's a great day and you're too pretty not to smile; smile!"

I'm not obsessed with cats. I think if you knew what my favorite movie is, you'd know what I obsess about.

Actually I'm the guy you see at major intersections with the Sham Wow and the spray bottle who addresses you with, "[hiccup] Hey! Hey lady! Ya wan' yer winshiel' wash'd n squeegee'd? [BURP]"

Re: I care. I want to understand.
by a-z

Sure, I'd be willing to explain.

Poster 6297 is the poster "apollonius", meaning his UserID number is 6297.

<link>

The list of posters are all the posters who have spoken respectfully to him that I could dig up in his MBTU. JackDallas was an interesting find (since he mostly insults apollonius), as was skitch (since he would be regarded by most as the odd man out on that list). Of course, it's also possible I misinterpreted since I didn't read the posts they were responding to. Nonetheless, both seemed very clear.

There were other people whose responses I was disappointed to see, even if they didn't rise to the level of "respect". There are also posters who I expect could be on the list if user histories went back a little further (not due to an earlier naivete, but just due to my having more material to look at).

Yes, fraycentric, and yes, possibly presumptuous of me to top post it. Or, at least, I won't disagree with you if you find fault with me on that account. My feeling about BOTF lately is very ordinary, but I find it clubby (clique! clique!) and excessively comfortable. Of course, none of you are racist, so feel as entitled as you like to take liberties on the topic. And similar behaviour on a variety of topics, mainly determined by incidental social allegiances. But most of you are neither careful writers nor careful readers. And that similar "you" are not thoughtful in "your" casual denigrations and prejudices. And here I am, slighting a group (BOTF) in making that accusation. I'm aware of it and regret it - and, indeed, am smearing many in painting an overly broad picture. But that's a different sort of group, really.

protein pills helping (joke)

My shoulder is pretty great too. The thing is, I know now when it starts to ache, used to be I'd play (or work, but seldomly) through it, now I know it is demanding rest. Also, there's one funny thing: it is so much more vulnerable after a period of non strenuous use (like a vacation), I have to be really careful, that's when I need to resume the targeted exercises, get back into things slowly.

So now after knees, shoulders, tendinitis (and unless you've experienced a severe case you don't know how debilitating this can be), bunch of other stuff, something new (and very uninteresting) has beset me.

-----

By the way, we used to play a word association game on our bus trips (team sports). You'd just say a word. The responders would have to guess a word twice removed from your word. Simple, yet puzzling. No point (again).

What's the deal with swit? Do I have to book him?
