Avoidance of "moronic" handwriting
by janedoe18
When I first saw the movie "Talk of the Town" as a young girl, I was struck by Ronald Colman's description of someone's handwriting as moronic. I remember cringing when I saw the handwriting that he so described, as I realized that it was much better looking than my own script.

Since then, I have striven to never have handwriting which could be described as moronic.

At the age of fourteen, I set about to improve my handwriting. So, I went to the local public library, checked out a few books on handwriting and calligraphy. I then selected my ideal handwriting and set about copying the letters. I used every opportunity to practice my writing (including classroom note-taking), and I was able to completely transform my handwriting from illegible scrawl to beautiful penmanship.

I've never heard anyone else describe someone's handwriting as moronic, but I have received innumerable compliments for my handwriting. (Of course, I've also been told that my handwriting closely resembles my friends' grandparents' or great grandparents' writing.)
