The thing I fear is that they will fire their first shots in the same manner that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols did. They will probably use the tactical matter of deploying IEDs and truck bombs that kill innocent children and the poor. I have already seen the run on 50 caliber semi-automatic weapons at gun shows.

Remember that the American Civil War cost nearly one million casualties with very few automatic and no semi-automatic weapons in either sides armories.

This time the southerners will have alot of help from the western half of the US, where do I sign up.

I have already seen the run on 50 caliber semi-automatic weapons at gun shows.

I have wanted a Barrett .50 for years but it is cost prohibitive for me. I like long range target shooting my .308 is only good out to 800 yards the .50 is good out to a mile and a half. Long range shooting iw a terrificly fun and exhilerating sport i share with my grand kids.

There were no automatic weapons in the Civil war although the gatling was invented in 1861 it was limited in shots to the number of barrels and prone to malfunctions it did not become a military weapon until 1867 when the concept was adapted to metallic cartridges and could be magazine fed. At the time it was adopted by the US Army.

The killing in the civil war was due to 2 factors the first being American marksmanship, both armies had the best marksmen in the world, The second was the Minnie ball which allowed quicker reloads and more accurate shots with muzzleloaders. There were 620,000 deaths in the civil war which covers casualties for both sides.
