Polls show most Americans want healthcare reform but not an expensive government plan in which the government competes with the insurance industry. They want to access more insurance plans and have greater competition across a national pool of Companies. Most Americans know by now that there are 1400 insurance companies providing healtcare insurance and in most states the best they can hope to choose from is 8. Most Americans want Congress to exercise their role in regulating interstate commerce to reform healthcare.

Radicals on the left (Obama's base Support) want at the very least a government option and would prefer a government only option.

If Obama goes out and twists arms to force passage of one the the plans currently debated in the house he is likely to make most of his base happy. If he accepts one of the republican plans or brokers a bipartisian plan that forgoes the government option he will make voters happy but he will lose his base.

Either way Obama is bound to be forgotten in mych the way Jimmy Carter or Gerald Ford was.

Funny you mention expense and the war. You see people actually supported the war and if you look at the votes on the CONGRESSIONAL authorization to go to war many Democrats supported it too in fact they continued to vote to continue the war even after they took back the house and aenate in 2006. For the past 3 years this have been largely a Democrat funded war they are the majority and couldhave prevented the continuation of the war at any time.

The War is a moot point now and has been for 3 years.

As for the AMA they appear to support the left on this scam.

You did not put the word mule in your handle for nothing. My father deliverd milk (when he was a kid during the summers) for his uncle during the years he spent in Minnesota. He said the Mules knew the daily route and could adapt to additions and subtrations from the route quite easily they even would not go unless he got the order right (he could tell them it was ok the order changed and they would learn the new order. The trouble with the mules was they would never change their route they could not be used for any other task other than delivering the milk on the route.

You could teach the Mules and they would learn by rote memorization and to a degree they understood but once they learned tehy could only deviate by minute degrees.
