dumb. the security is unknown and the backups are unknown. if a doc is lost, the user will call IT who will throw up his hands and say "not my job"

i can't imagine ANY company allowing any company docs to be posted with Google docs. I would request termination of any employee doing that with possible criminal charges.

Agreed. The fact of the matter is that whatever the employee produces belongs to the company. If there's a disagreement, and the employee leaves, all their data is gone forever.

Its a sad fact of life but in IT we must always think about whats the worst that could happen.

I don't see why Google doesn't privatize some of their doc software and sell it to companies. That'd make backups possible, wouldnt have to worry about Google monitoring you, and it'd also make money.
