Vets before Illegals...
by evenstevenII
-1 Reply

It never seems to amaze me how our government is so willing to hand out free health care too illegals as part of this new program and yet our veterans who fought and may have been disabled may very likely come second.

Wasn't it under Bush that the dems were screaming about the lousy VA conditions?

And now we're poised to hand out health care to an estimated 7-20 million illegals and take that money away from our vets.

A true shame!

Yeah, that cultural elitist doesn't know anything about real americans. He only loves illegals. How dare he attack veterans? He doesn't know any veterans. Freedom isn't free you know. Maybe a socialist wouldn't understand that. The fact is that Noah wants to ration care so that he can kill grandma and babies only to replace them with illegals...

Did I cover everything here? I hope that captures your views. No sense in actually reading the article, of course, and never mind the fact that no one has proposed reducing benefits for veterans (or increasing benefits for illegal aliens). Slogans, slogans, slogans, I say! Good for all occassions.

Have a look Jackass!

It may not be Obama's message, but, it sure as hell is Pelosi's!

How is that taking money away from our veterans? Watching a conservative try to think it like watching a turtle try to run from a speeding car. Sad and painful.
Re: Really???

HAHAHAH! I'm still laughing at this phrase from the article: "Along with our possessions, city services, and even many children’s innocence, illegal aliens will now steal full medical coverage from Americans, with the help of our own president!"

Oh, who will think of the children and their innocence!!!!

To go back to the first responder to your post, who the hell said anything about taking money from vets? God, stupid, stupid people.

Evensteven,

Do you know what "non-resident alien" means? The writer of the article you cited apparently conflated this with "illegal alien." They aren't the same -- not even close. Non-resident aliens are legally present aliens who maintain a permanent residency in another country and inhabit the U.S. for less than 183 days a year. This information is readily available on the IRS' website, and just because some moron from the Baltimore examiner doesn't know how does use Google doesn't give you an excuse to rely on sketchy sources without first checking them. It would do you a lot of good to read (really read -- not skim) articles before responding to them or citing them. This is a serious problem with Internet debates. People think they're entitled to rely on whatever garbage they can dredge up without doing even a second of homework.

Finally, the bill doesn't even promise healthcare to "non-resident aliens." The provision cited by the author of that article relates to taxes -- not healthcare. Again, please read your sources.

The notion that the bill would extend to illegal immigrants is an urban myth. In fact, the legislation specifically states that "undocumented aliens" will not be eligible for credits to help them buy health insurance, in Section 246 on page 143. <link>. Stop embarrasing yourself by repeating empty, incorrect, slogans.

thanks for the link. I'm not sure how you (or the Norfolk Crime Reporter) can equate the draft of healthcare reform as CAUSING illegal aliens to take anything new from taxpayers. Right now, hospitals can't turn them away if they need emergency care (which, given their status is likely the only time they get care). Taxpayers pay for it. Cheaper, preventative care (which means fewer $100k ER visits) diminishes the cumulative weight on taxpayers for care of IAs, doesn't it?

I also was under the impression that the public option on the exchange (if there even is one by the time this all wraps up) would have similar administrative requirements to a private plan (personal info paperwork - basically exposing who and where IAs are). The line cited from the bill's draft doesn't clear that all up for me - "all nonresident aliens will be exempt from taxes" - Isn't that always the case?

Seems like this is strictly an immigration issue. Should we stop repairing roads because IAs keep on using them?

Tad

You beat to the rebuttal in both speed and accuracy, nice work.

What on earth does this have to do with the article? You're not racist, but you might be schizophrenic. Please read this. <link>. Pay special attention to:

"People with schizophrenia often have unusual thought processes. One dramatic form is disorganized thinking, in which the person has difficulty organizing his or her thoughts or connecting them logically. Speech may be garbled or hard to understand."

Randomley screaming about illegal aliens in response to an article that has absolutely nothing to do with immigration is a bad sign (i.e.., you appear to have difficulty logically connecting your thoughts).

Perhaps you could get Thorazine under the new health plan.

Listen, dumbass,

Do you live in California?

Does you or your wife work in an ER in a hospital in California?

Has your state seen 36 hospitals close because of the U.S. government not reimbursing them for services for illegals?

Is your state almost broke because of the 33% of national welfare recipients are here in California?

I'll say this one last time, WE CAN'T AFFORD THIS PROGRAM!

JACKASS!

Re: OR......

Hey evenstevenII,

Which program are you talking about? Which program can't we afford? Why don't you explain, in your own words, exactly what it is that you think is being proposed here?
Re: OR......
by evenstevenII

Bush, Obama, and Congress has just laid out over $1.5 trillion dollars on 2 different stimulus packages. So we just print more money!

No Obama and Congress want to set up a healthcare program that, by the CBO says will not completely cover the 47 million uninsured anyway, is going to spend another $1.5 trillion.

Is everyone missing the fact that we don't have the money to spend and that with the government just printing more money is going to send the dollar into the shithole?

Is every one that blind that they can't see it or they just think FUCK IT, who cares?

Re: OR......

Evensteven,

I shouldn't be responding to you (no feeding the animals, etc.), but you ought to know that you're contradicting yourself. If you're worried that hospitals are closing because the U.S. government is not reimbursing them for services for illegals, you should want illegals covered by federal health plans. After all, if hospitals were reimbursed, this would be de facto coverage. I don't think this would be a particularly brilliant idea, but it's the natural conclusion to your rant.

As far as welfare recipients are concerned, you're once again not connecting the dots. What welfare program are you talking about? The most popular "welfare" program in California is CalWORKs, which is not available to illegal immigrants. It's a welfare-to-work program for U.S. citizens and legal residents who fit certain criteria. It's true that food stamps and some other federal-based benefits are available to citizen children of illegal aliens, but discussing food stamps in response to this article (nothing to do with food stamps or immigration) is a bit, well, indicative of disorganized thought processes.

I'm not saying that immigration isn't a valid issue. But I just don't understand it when people scream out political catch phrases (immigration! welfare! oh no!) at completely random moments. You still haven't connected your rant to the issues at hand. You need to calm down, start reading the articles (and your sources), and start responding to the issues at hand instead of randomly bringing up your favorite bogeymen.

By the way, the all caps "JACKASS" and your arbitrary use of the words "fuck" and "fucking" do little to convince me that I'm debating a mentally sound individual.

Do you live in California?

If not, then STFU. You don't have first hand knowledge of the situation here. You don't hear the complete news of what is going on in this state.

You don'y know that the house you may have bought 2 years ago for $700k is now worth $400k. (not me personally, I was smart enough not to fall for the stupidity of the housing bubble)

You don't live in the HIGHEST TAXED state in the country.

You don't own a small business in that very same HIGHEST TAXED state in the country.

So what's the solution? Tax us more and we're gonna give to a bunch of morons that didn't get an education or dropped out of school, or came here illegally, or popped out 9 kids that they can't support.

Care for me to continue?

The last thing this country needs is another $1.5 trillion added to the debt. It wasn't long ago that you libs were bitching and complaining on how much debt Congress was lumping on us. Well, I guess the old thoery of "you only like the law when it doesn't aplly to you" is going to come back and bite the dems in the 2010 election and I can't wait to see it happen.
