dodge and fake. A few more narrowly-defined groups may get insured, but the medical lobbies, Big Insurance and Big Pharma will remain in the saddle, which is what they care about. Entrenched interests not only don't mind cosmetic reforms, they like them because appease public anxieties. The political servitors of the present chaotic "system" have for two generations perfected the arts of evasion, corruption and culture war, with which they will easily keep a "reformed" system on the course their masters want.

we are reminded of Winston Churchill's famous statement: "The Americans always do the right thing, but only after exhausting all of the alternatives."

Thank Goodness Big Government will aways be here to save us from ourselves.

They have done so well with that which we the people have entrusted them with so far, haven't they? Why would anyone be concerned with giving politicians more power and more funds to control? That would be crazy.

Then how come you "conservatives" gave in to power-grab after power-grab when Bush and the Republicans were in power? Obviously wasn't a problem then since you guys vote lock-step no matter who the party puts up there (see the Appalachian Trail hiker, the "I was just tapping my foot in the airport bathroom" Senator, the other "I sleep with my staff" Senator, etc, ad nauseum).
