They don't want any sort of health care reform if it means any reduction in the outrageous profits they reap from their monopoly.
That's why they're paying hundreds of liars, cheats and thugs who are lobbying, disrupting town hall meetings, and generally trying to scare the shit out of the public.
These big insurance companies continually gambled on bad investments over the past thirty years, and they've lost billions because of it.
They began raising their rates, and cancelling policy-holders who actually tried to use their coverage, just so they could offset the huge losses the companies were experiencing that were due to their own bad real estate and investment decisions.
Republican members of congress are among the liars cheats and thugs on the payrolls of the big insurance companies, so what would you expect from them other than obstructionism?
All of the folks who have insurance coverage through their employers and oppose health care reform should ask themselves what they would do if they lost their jobs, injured themselves seriously off the job, or decided to retire early.
Those folks should ask themselves whether they would they be able to afford $600 to $1,000 per month just for a bare-bones policy with a huge deductible?
That's the reality of the staus quo. You may not like it, you may not agree with it, and you may not think it's fair, butif you do a little checking you'll find that it surely is the reality of today's health care system.
