I thought there would be a serious examination of this disgusting stereotype, but aside from a passing reference to its origins with MALE comedians, the book seems to blow it off (as does the video clip, where the daughter hardly gets to put in a word, thanks to the way the interviewer slanted her questions).
Though I am an American Jewish mother (!) I used to live in Italy, where the exact, same stereotype exists of the Italian mother, and no doubt in other cultures as well. So, yes, I DO blame the Jewish comedians for creating and perpetuating the stereotype. Since comedians in general come from a sad, angry place inside of them, which they turn outward as "comedy", it's easy to see how these Jewish comedians could have created their monster.
