To War Stories fellow crones; Loree, Steelbucket et al.
by Lobato1c

It’s too bad I never did get our fellow crone "Johnito’s" address in Santa Fe,

All work & no play makes the Lobato’s dull fellows & we’re taking a much deserved break from the taxing honey-do life to take our summer vacations in Colorado.

We’ve also included an itinerary to drop down to Santa Fe to visit the chapel of Loretto made famous by the movie "Stairway to Heaven" & it would have been nice to meet & invite Johnito out for dinner.

Anyone know anything about Johnito?

Best Regards

Welcome to Colorado. What's your itinerary? Hope you enjoy your visit as much as I do living here. Gramps

Would it help if I pull a 'Bill Clinton' and try something on my own?! :-)

Just kidding, but I will make sure that he 'knows' about your plans. You could maybe have come by by southern Kansas, too. Would love to meet the woman (oh yeah, and you!) who puts up with you!!

Lol....and happy vacationing....Loree

No Excuses....you should meet Gramps while in Denver, or nearby! Wouldn't that be a blast?!

Gramps is able to drive, so betcha the wheels are turning right now, like crazy:-)

I'd be delighted to invite gramps out for dinner

He will be so thrilled....and so lucky as well. He so enjoys meeting his fellow posters. I would to, if I could. Guess that is what happens when one lives out in the 'sticks':-)

I know the two of you will have a fantastic time!

Kansas?
by Lobato1c

Having been away from our Country for so long, we're now trying to catch up at this late stage of the game in knowing our Country. Our Grandson is an MD at Rush in Chicago & our intentions were to drive up this September, including Kansas, the Orzarks & the full enchilada,

But then, the kid warned us of not taking our vehicle since there seems to be all sorts of parking prohibitions for none-residence in the center of town, so we decided to fly.

But now it seems the trip is off since the kid ran into all sorts of scheduled out of town trip conflicts with our intended visit,

Bummer :-(

Well, DARN, huh?!

You can't cross Kansas, and go to the Ozarks without getting darned close to me. I am a bit over 3 hours west of the western beginnings of the Ozarks...Joplin, and four hours from Rogers/Fentonville (home of Wal-Mart) region of the Ozarks.

It would have been nice? If my ears burn while you are in Denver, I'll know that Gramps mentioned my name...ha ha !

Lobato, I don't have information about Johnito....but if you plan to come down through the Taos area let me know and we will set up a time to meet in Questa, Red River or maybe even in Taos.

My itinerary is:

We'll arrive in Denver, Colorado the 6th of August;

    • Stay a couple of days in Trinidad, Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites; 6th, 7th & 8th August
    • Santa Fe one day, Fort Marcy Hotel Suites; 8th through 9th August
    • Visit Colorado Springs one day, Cheyenne Mountain Resort; 9th thru 10th August
    • Visit Denver on day, The Timbers 10th through 11th August

On August 8th, I have a 200 mile, 3 hour drive from Trinidad, CO to Santa Fe, NM where I must arrive at least by maybe 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm because the Loretto chapel closes at 5:00 pm.

But, on August 9th I have a killer (for an old goat like me), of a >>300 mile, 5 hour drive from Santa Fe, NM to Colorado Springs, CO.

Best Regards

Wow, memory is not what it used to be, but now I remember Johnito. sure miss not seeing him here as well.

So, was it you who were married at this town hall 50 years before?
