I thought the President was having a Bud Light.
by aeschylus
Not much difference, I guess. Still, even if they all wanted to buy American, there are *so many* good beers to choose from. Three disappointing choices, with Obama's being the worst. I hope he doesn't serve wine from a box at state dinners.

What's your favorite beer? I drink beer on occasion, but I don't really have a favorite. None of them taste good, but they all have alcohol -- and that's really the point, isn't it?

then it's not your thing. It takes all kinds to make a world. Since it's summer, I would go with a witbier like Allagash or Mothership Wit. I'm not a hophead, but there are a lot of good pale ales out there, too.

I'd have thought that he and Gates would go for a nice Colt 45 malt liquor.

Is that your favorite? I think I've had one of those as well, but I can't remember if I liked it much.

Nightswimmer: in my opinion as well as my youngest bro, Bud regular is MUCH better than Bud Light. That's one reason why they add all the flavors to B.L.--lime, clam juice and whatnot. Can't hurt it.

Really good summer (read: flavorful, light) mass-produced beers, tend to be German-style lagers or Chech-pilseners, such as most Mexican Beers (Corona, Dos XX, etc.); Qing Dao from China; Heidleberg from Washington State; Steinlager from New Zealand, Pilsner Urequel fror Chech Repub, etc. For a hot summer baseball game in Texas say, avoid the chewy brown Steiner Boch you might enjoy in wintertime, and go with regular Miller Lite in the large plastic bottle. How can anyone say that while watching a baseball game in weather above 90F, Miller Lite doesn't taste good?

I find the taste of alcohol generally offensive. That said, I do appreciate the nuances of the different flavors available in various libations. Since I do occasionally enjoy the effects of alcoholic beverages (in moderation -- of course), I tend to seek out those beverages with the least offensive taste. A very cold beer is nice enough in hot weather, but it's hard to beat single malt Bushmills Irish Whiskey and spring water over ice IMHO.
