I would like to ask, of those who were in the Senate at the time, why did you NOT know "then" what you know now (about Iraq).
Then I'd like to ask all of them, what can be done to assure us in the future that our Senators have the basic knowledge that 30% or more of Americans know?
What basic flaw was in place, that kept EVERY Senator from watching C-Span, when the UN very adequately and plainly explained why they had to disagree with the "proof" the US had placed before them?
And what flaw still exists, that makes it seem adequate to plead, "They lied to us and we ate it up." I accept that from a ten-year-old. I do not easily stomach it from someone who I trusted to be paying attention to things that I myself evidently understood better than those I'd elected.
You failed us by being voiceless. What was in place that made you feel voiceless and incapable of the independent reasoning powers we thought you capable of, and how do we make sure it never occurs again?
I never want that to occur again, be it a Republican voice or a Democrat one. If the media or religious zealousy holds your brains within its grasp, I want to hear of a plan to correct it. If your thought was that a nay vote wasn't going to do any good, let me reiterate ...
A nay vote would have shown you capable of independent thought.
