Note Addington's first reply to any suggestion that they seek congression approval was, "why are you trying to diminish the president's power?". That says a lot. It's clear what this administration's top priority was. It wasn't protecting the American people, the law, or the Constitution. It was maintaining their power. That's the number one thing on their mind: making sure they could do whatever they wanted, when they wanted with no accountability or oversight.

It should be clear to anyone that Bush respects nothing by his bizarre delusion of infallibility.
