I definitely see my own mother being envious of my life and the things I do better than she does. I see it, and it makes me feel bad...like I'm a bad daughter. I think it happens with all parents and children though, I know I'm not the only one in my circle of friends who has experienced this.

But a tip for Scrabble: Zen on a double word score should never happen because "Zen" is a proper noun...so not an official Scrabble word. I suppose this depends on your family rules, but I would never let Zen slide :)

I can relate to your feelings. I have the same sort of relationship with my mother. You would think that our parents would be proud to have successful daughters instead of downing us, but what can be done?
