It is the glimpse of the empty nest
by kpks

When my son was 2, I played all the games he loves with him - cricket, carrom, football, you name it. Now not only does he play most games better than his co-ordination-challenged mom, he finds me an inadequate opponent!

I see this gap only increasing... As he grows bigger and smarter he will turn to me a lot less for fun or guidance. This is just the first step before my baby flies off to his own nest. That is what bothers me the most.

Probably you too.

I can see why this bothers you, but his growing independence from you is actually a sign of your success as a parent. Parenting is like shipbuilding--your goal is to succesfully launch your little vessel on the oceans of life.
