Energy collective. Get together with all of your likeminded friends (there should be plenty these days, pretty much any Obama voter right?) and pool your money and all of you buy shares of this new energy collective.

Then go to the bank with the money that you’ve gathered and get a loan to buy X number of solar panels. Buy as many as you can and have them installed on yours and the other share holders houses.

The rest is gravy, the money starts to roll in because of all of the solar savings that you’ll get, which you can use to reinvest in the upkeep and new panels (not to mention service the loan in the first place, but we’ll worry about that later)

Who needs the govt? What are they going to do anyhow? At the end of the day they’re just people, and they can’t really stop you from collectivizing in this way. If there is one thing that I know for sure in life it’s that if you don’t do it, you shouldn’t expect it to get done.

Take the money that you would have spent on new shoes and starbucks and do this. Organize, get involved. Be the T.B. Pickens of solar yourself. Get your hands dirty. Stop complaining.

Tell me how it goes.

they are waiting for the gubmint to hold their hands. i think it's great that bimboish leftist airheads who know nothing about energy but bumper sticker slogans and al gorish musings, who offer dictates and heavy taxes are doing what they do best. which is get on peoples nerves.

i give it about three more years and we can drag out that good old, time tested, 'get the government off the backs of the people' thing again. it always works.

crap and fraud.

the money will disappear with no effect faster than the 140 million of annenberg cash that monkey boy pissed away in his years of community organizing.

Asthma rates are at the highest they have ever been. If you don't think there is a problem, go lay under your tailpipe for about an hour or so. Tell me how it goes.

"Asthma rates are at the highest they have ever been."

That's terrible. Did you get solar panels for your house yet Minnmule?

Re: Start your own

why should see do what she is trying to get other people to do when crises mongering is so much easier?

you gotta giver her credit though. she knows how to play the trump victim card and that is for damn sure.

da chilluns! da chilluns!!! da po inicent chilluns!! i'm hoping she talk about someone raping the environment later. that always makes me horny.

Re: Start your own

I wasn't fucking "crisis mongering", you fucking idiots. I was proposing a simple solution to eliminating two of the worlds problems.
Re: Start your own

so do you have solar panels yet? or are you waiting for the government to wipe your ass for you?
Re: Start your own
by blueshift

Why focus exclusively on solar panels? They don't make economic sense for a lot of people yet, although price performance continues to improve. Its easier and probably cheaper for most people to just sign up for a renewable energy option from their power company. Both ways provide market incentives for further renewables development, but the power company has way more leverage than any group of people I could bring together.

Alternatively, you could take all that money and invest in weatherization which has much higher payout for most people even before government subsidies.

This option also assumes home ownership whereas its more efficient to live in high density housing (I think people prefer medium density which also is better than separate houses).

why can't you control freaks let the market provide incentives for the market? why must you create all these 'incentives'? let the market take care of itself for christ sakes.

Well irv, I was talking about the effect of my own or other individual's actions. I also try to buy American goods - does that make me a control freak too?

my sister is VERY concerned with the environment. She and her husband put solar panels on their roof, have a solar water heater, AND have a diesel fuel co-op with their neighbors.

Much as I think she's a bit loony (in that the cost she's put out won't be realized in savings in this lifetime) I 100% give her credit for LIVING what she preaches *with her own money*.

YOU on the other hand want to use MY money for YOUR goals. You suck.

then there is no problem. the market is your incentive. i have a passive soar water heater and it works great. i live on florida but active PV panels suck here. it would take me 40 years to pay off an array at the current prices and that includes all tax credits, incentives, blah blah blah. screw all that. a moderately priced system would only provide 10% of my energy at best and only between 10AM-2PM. fuck all that.

of course with the cap and fraud thing it may be worth it.

i meant to say crap and fraud.

But what is the simple solution? It wasn't exactly clear from your post...
