"The CIA is supposed to report on all but its most sensitive operations to the full House and Senate intelligence committees; any investigation will hinge on whether the program was sensitive enough to legitimately skirt that requirement."

Does this mean that if the CIA concocts a "program" sufficient heinous, they don't have to report it to Congress?

Does this mean that Congressional/Senatorial members of intelligence committees cannot be trusted to keep secrets?

Does this mean the CIA can do and does do whatever it wants?

Does this mean that the CIA should be abolished as an active threat against Constitutional government and rule by the People's representatives?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

The only question is whether the democratically controlled administration and congress have the spine to do what they legally must: prosecute.

We'll see.

Long live the Empire!

It means the CIA is a secret mission organization in place to protect the USA.

Fuck the Demokkkrat (and foreign) Jerks that attack them.... We The People of the USA are happy the CIA has helped protect us from attack on our own soil since 9-11 and have done a DAMN GOOD JOB!!!!

No, programs considering too heinous are left to the gang of eight, the leaders of both houses of Congress and the intelligence subcommittees which Pelosi was a member of when she claims that she and other members were misled.

What amazes me is that people are surprised the CIA lies to Congress, especially after the "Slam dunk" comment.

Now, as for Cheney and his secret assassins, I completely buy that. And he used these assassins to not only remove foreign thorns but domestic as well. See I buy that too. Until an investigation is called, I will buy the worst stories concerning Cheney because he has not proven himself to be above any of this. God, does anyone remember energy policy committees with energy execs? Or removing the VP mansion from Google maps? Libby and Plame? Or Cheney's minority report on Iran-Contra?

Would they have to report a program that was never implemented? Would it be legal for them to withhold information on a program until such time that they decided to implement it?

Uh, NC.... I doubt you knew this, but 9/11 occurred during the administration of Cheney/Bush. And they had a LOT of warnings it was coming. Read that PDB entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US."....

Ya think maybe the very title of that memo might have suggested some sort of preventive measures? It didn't to the Cheney/Bush regime, by their own testimony.

Oh. Wait! you mean the Cheney/Bush regime just gets a mulligan on 9/11? How VERY Republican!

Just watch and see how Cheney re-parses "implement".

So your stating that the program in question was implemented? Please do share. Do you know what the program is that they are talking about and how it was implemented?

So you think they should have shut down the entire airline industry? Short of that, how do you believe it could have been stopped?

NC

there never should have been a 9/11 either

Re: Bad to the bone

Your right, those terrorists should never had been allowed to enter the U.S. and take flight training which was done in the previous years to the Bush administration.
