One Question for Sotomayor OK?
by Conunderground
When does being a white male, with my rich experience, make me more qualified than an old hispanic woman to be a judge.

Can't answer that. What's your legal background? Been a federal district judge? Been an federal appellate judge? Graduate from Ivy League schools with honors?

Answer a question yourself: Is the court stronger because people from different backgrounds serve on it: minorities, women as well as white men?

Answer another question: Who's likely to be the better judge: a guy whose spent his whole life being a rich person and then spent his whole career working for rich people or somebody whose life experience is like everybody else?

Answer another question: Is empathy something judges shouldn't have?

Lets assume all else being equal OK? Tell me in what situation is a white male with rich Caucasian experience more suited to be a judge than an old hispanic woman?

How about never? We've had 200+ years of white male judges, senators, congressmen, Presidents, governors, etc., Maybe we've already culled all the wisdom that group had to offer. Let's give the rest of us a century or so at bat and see.
There are plenty of other countries...

why can't we look at their experience and find out how it works out?

Sure but during that same 200 years we had the latino wisdom in South and Central America how'd that go? Isn't it interesting that all the wise latinos come here begging for food and shelter and living on our dime just like Sotomayor and family?

Sure we can. Lets look at 200 hundred years of experience in North America vs the same south of the border.

Conunderground:

You sound like a bigot. Because Americans' ancestry is from a certain place they must racially behave as people in that place now do? Were Russian Americans communist from 1917-1990. Was Eisenhower (a German American) as Nazi in 1942? Was FDR a Dutchman? Was Martin L. King a spear chucker? Don't answer that one, I think I know what your answer will be.

What it boils down to, Conunderground, is that you don't believe in America--the notion that ideas and ideals can change varied people and make us one common nation. It would interfere with your indulgence in ignorant hatefulness.

Go pour your hateful sewage somewhere where nobody will notice the smell.

Unabashed racism spoken without reservation and, perhaps, self-recognition.

Uh, you may want to look up what countries constitute North America.
