Lawyers

The public defender who gets acosted that his job is not just about getting people off the hook. For people that they know are guilty it's about making sure that they get a punishment that is fair and fits the crime. Two people can be arrested for littering, one person threw a cup out their car window, the other dumped their trash bags on their neighbor's lawn because of a domestic dispute. Most punishments have a range of fines, jail time, and probabation and the defendants job can simply be to make sure that the defendant is fairly punished for a crime they did commit. They also negotiate plea deals, and work with the state to get criminals to give evidence on other, worse offenders.

If these people really must comment then he should start talking about all the nuances of the criminal justice system in the effort to educate an America (and potencial jury member) of how the legal system works... or bore them out of asking anything else.

Wow, virtually the exact same point as the person that posted 45 minutes before you in the preceding thread. This simply couldn't have been done as a reply to them, eh?
