backstreet cred
by zeleny
Johann Hari may be our planet's foremost authority on having wild gay sex with homophobic neo-Nazis. By the same token, his personal credibility in claiming the demise of the Asian babe splayed on the road to Mandalay leaves something to be desired. Likewise, denouncing fetid attitudes toward women and comic Freudian projections of Europe's suppressed sexuality would be best left to men personally experienced in the ways of the opposite sex.

And yet he's dead right calling bullshit on this book. Sorry your 'love me long time' fantasies got a hefty dose of reality?

After 25 years of spelunking in asian babes, I gladly leave 'love me long time' fantasies to heterophobic gayboys.

...but Zeleny, if on one warm summer night after several glasses of wine, your spelunked Asian babe suddenly play-acted a pretend character who promised to 'love you long time' would you really jump out of bed all offended?

Alas, the current sultana is alcohol-intolerant. As for the Saigon streetwalker imitation, every Chinese joke I know has to do with matters short and painful, not long and loving.

Well in any case, the scene in question (from the excellent Kubrick film) has been famously sampled into the mythos of the (randy) hip-hop group, 2 Live Crew. So humor has already saved it from racism by white-folk.

too bad about the wine, though. I think red wine has become quite the obsession now with Chinese.

Viet poon is a law unto itself.

It's a hell of a burden having to drink ⅞ of a bottle of Silver Oak with my Peking duck, but I try to bear it with dignity.

man that sounds good! You've just named my spouse's #1 favorite winery by the way.
Re: backstreet cred

Try 888. They sell Silver Oak at liquor store retail.

thanks very much, Zeleny. One of my many many colleges years ago was Cal State L.A. BTW, if anyone wants expert advice (with humor) about the best authentic (and not) Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose, CA, look for the name Huy N on Yelp. He's brilliant.
