I still can't figure out what Jeff Goldblum added to "Jurassic Park". Goldblum's character was like Bar Bar Jinks in "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace". Edit Bar Bar out of the film, and you wonder what the hell he was supposed to add to the drama or story line in the first place. Edit Goldblum out or "Jurassic Park", and you wonder what his character (or chaos theory) was supposed to contribute to the entertainment. Does Jeff Goldblum really belong in a Law & Order franchise? Maybe he belongs in the stylized world of some sort of "Burn Notice" or "The Closer" spinoff/spoof; Thank yeeeuuww. I'm still having trouble with the misplacement of Vincent Donofrio's great acting in a franchise that should be called, "Law & Order: Bizarro". Down to earth Noth was out of place in this "NYPD Bonkers". What a twist of roles, maybe even irony: The small of frame and skinny women (no less attractive, though) are the only gritty, no nonsense, hard-nosed, kick ass, police detectives. I'm waiting for an episode to end with, "Oh, Poncho." "Oh, Cisco." As for "Independence Day", how can I trust any opinion of Goldblum's acting, or an assessment of the film, in general, when not a single film critic, I read at the time, took notice that it was a remake of H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds". Will someone please make an effort to raise Pauline Kael from the grave. I think it only fair, in the spirit of full disclosure, that the opening credits of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" read: "With special guest appearance by Jeff Goldblum's quirkiness."

Jeff doesn't act. Jeff is Jeff peroid. You better hope he fits your character how he is, because he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. Its funny though, because if you watch the movies he is in, he's not awful, he's just the exact same character. Doesn't matter if he is playing a scientist, genius, or working class character, or playing himself in real life. Its the same character.
