Barrow Street (in memory of former BotFer Claude Scales)

Barrow Street

I will die having walked
down Barrow Street
in New York's light
amidst the smell of coffee
roasting in the morning
past the Paris Bistro
with its red awning

having walked past
Cherry Lane where the
theatre was, and at
its corner, a restaurant
where they served your
vegetables in oval dishes,
Portugese family-style

having walked with salt
on my lips from a breeze
off the Hudson just
a few blocks away,
where liners and warships
made common progress
to their piers uptown.

Claude's alive and well.
Do you mean Claude has passed on?
by watt4bob

I was wondering where he has been.

No - see my note to previous poster. Like IOZ, Claude left BotF for his own blog some time ago - don't know if he still keeps his blog up - I forget its name ... Demo2 may know more ...

You may be forgetting the difference in our opinions re who (or what) is posting at BotF.

His nic/persona is not alive and well at BotF.

thank you for providing the link to his blog - as I said above - I had forgotten its name ...
Claude just sent me an email last week.
by topazz_
Well, okay - it was a mass group email sent out to anyone he may have inadvertantly "friended" on facebook through his email account. It gave no indication he was at death's door.

When I die, I want that poem read at my funeral.
Why, you LURKER!

And when I die...
by Archaeopteryx

...I want you to pick out the music for my funeral.

And I want that to be in 2106 A.D.

This is actually my first visit to BOTF in some months. I came here by following back a "referring URL" link on my blog's Sitemeter. I am, needless to say, tickled pink to see that I'm remembered fondly, at least by some. (I don't think SpiderMBA or whatever nic that person now uses misses me.)

Topazz, thanks for your nice e-mail note, to which I've been delinquent in replying. All's well here, thanks. My daughter has given up her plan to drop out of high school and become an autodidact, though she still has a fatal crush on Subcommandante Marcos and occasionally threatens to run off to the jungles of Chiapas, where she'd probably give up vegetarianism at her first offer of pollo mole poblano.

BTW, my e-mail had nothing to do with Facebook, but with another social networking site called "Tagged" that used an insidious marketing campaign to go viral. See <link>

Well, let's see. As of March 2106 I'll be exactly 160 years old. If I'm around then, I'll do as instructed.

Meanwhile, I want someone to volunteer to sing "Rosin the Bow" (see <link> ) at my funeral, which I hope comes no sooner than, say, 2036.
