Jon Stewart should be super pissed off.
by Ryguy

The couple shown with this article is attractive (or at least the blonde on the right is). On the news they show shots of attractive couples getting married. Then I see full coverage showing the whole line up of people at the courthouse waiting to get married and maybe 1 couple in 50 is attractive. I think it is very dishonest of the media in general to show us mostly attractive gay people. What drives this?

Why doesn't Jon Stewart call this out?

What? This is insane! The news is singling out attractive people over the unattractive ones?? This has never happened before on television! Gay rights is out of control! I demand uglier gay people on my television set NOW!

Truth be told, gay men are treated in much the same way as women by fictional television. If a character is a heterosexual male, he can be somewhat unattractive - a Paul Giamatii type, for example. But all gay men must be trim and fashion-conscious, much like women. And any sort of action-oriented role evidentally has a heterosexuality pre-requisite. I guess it's just not worth putting your life on the line unless you get the girl in the end, at least in Hollywoodland.
