"Hispanic/Latino-a" means Native American or African descent
by galtonian

If all ethnic groups had the same IQ then there would be no need for the designation "Hispanic/Latino-a". However in fact Blacks and Native Americans tend to have significantly lower IQs than Whites; as a result they have lower academic achievement and lower socioeconomic status. Liberal Whites see this as a serious problem that needs to be remedied, thus these liberals have devised various work-arounds (KIPP schools, No Child Left Behind, Affirmative Action, special Indian schools and health programs, Sub-Prime Mortgage assistance, etc.). In the case of immigrants from Latin America who have low IQs due to their Native American and/or African ancestry, there needs to be a term to identify them so that they can avail themselves of all the helpful programs that liberal Whites wish to offer them. Thus we have the terms "Hispanic/Latino-a". Immigrants from Iberia, or from Latin America who are ethnically White, usually have IQs that are similar to non-Hispanic Whites and therefore there is no need for them to be designated as "Hispanic/Latino-a". Similarly ethnically White immigrants from Africa (e.g. Teresa Heinz Kerry, Dave Matthews, etc.) are usually not considered to be "African Americans".

As California and many other states continue to become more and more Hispanic due to continued illegal and legal immigration (and the very high Hispanic birthrate), we should continue to expect to see steady decreases in the average IQ, the average academic achievement level, and the average socioeconomic status. But this is a small price to pay when we get so many benefits from the Hispanic influx such as ever lower pay scales for restaurant/hotel service workers, construction, gardening, manufacturing and other jobs that hire lower IQ workers (Hispanics born and raised in the USA might be less interested in these low wage jobs and might be more inclined to opt for lifestyles centered on welfare or crime). Additional benefits are cultural enrichment with great Hispanic music such as Latin Jazz and salsa music and trends in language, clothing styles and automobile detailing.

New Jersey? Yeah, I have been there.

I have never been to the deep South though. By "racist" I mean by Slate standards, not "I have no indoor plumbing" standards.
