Sorry, pot is not addictive in the same sense as alcohol. See alcohol causes chemical dependence, just like other hard drugs such as heroine or even tobacco. But chemical/physiological addiction is different than lifestyle addiction. I've seen people who can't quit smoking pot, not because they would go through physical withdrawals and be physically harmed by it, but more that they enjoy the feeling and lifestyle too much and get anxiety without pot. And this type of addiction to the feeling is not exclusive to pot. There are adrenaline junkies, who despite the name have no chemical addiction, nor will they have withdrawals, they merely love doing extreme things which elicit an adrenal response by the body. Or like the previous poster mentioned, people get addicted to shopping.
The problem with your assertion is that there are two kinds of addiction. First, there is the chemical/physiological which causes actual changes in brain chemistry. The second is that of lifestyle, feeling, or emotion, but it does not alter brain chemistry. This is not to say that one is bad and the other is okay. Both can destroy a person, but chamical changes in the brain are guaranteed to affect every person who does that drug. Addiction to a feeling can be many things. For those with addictive personalities, it is destructive, but for others, it is mere amusement.
