Not all Muslims are terrorists, just one's committing terror
by jpmzo
Why can't the Catholic Church shake free of a 200-year-old conspiracy theory?

Because the media, colleges and universities insist that the fanatical religious terrorists among us are Christians. That would be a start.

Are you trying to claim that there AREN'T any Christian terrorists? Are you out of your mind?

Personally I see the church itself as a terrorist organization. It preaches that unless you obey its rules then you will be condemned to an eternity of hell when you die: i.e. It creates fear in credulous people in order to thrive as an organization.

I'm not sure which is more pathetic, the church itself or the morons that buy in to its bullshit.

Really? Must be why every news report about terrorism for the last eight years has focused on muslim terrorists.

The truth is, there have been many Christian (Catholic and non-Catholic) terrorists and enemies of humanity. Just think back to Ireland in the 1990s. Not to mention the Nazis (Hitler went to church and received communion regularly), the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, etc. To say that any one religion, sect or theistic gathering has no blood at all on its hands is ridiculous. I am quite sure that even Taoists, Buddhists and the most pacifistic groups of organized worshippers have engaged in murder or torture to further their belief system, on the considered opinion that they are doing their Creator's work. I have my own opinions about which groups are more prone to use violence, guile and deception to further their aims, but I cannot believe that there is a single one that has not done something which 21st century free thinkers would consider damnable... Justa thought...

Of course there are terrorists of every religious stripe. What the top poster was implying was simply the rightwing fantasy that the media and those evil, edjumacation institutions like colleges and universities are in a conspiracy to portray all Christians as terrorists. That isn't even close to being supported by the facts, but it won't stop them from believing in it.

Hitler was hardly a Christian. Here are some quotes from Hitler about Christianity:

""Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure."

"The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity."

"The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity.... "

"There is something very unhealthy about Christianity."

"It would always be disagreeable for me to go down to posterity as a man who made concessions in this field. I realize that man, in his imperfection, can commit innumerable errors-- but to devote myself deliberately to errors, that is something I cannot do. I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie."

Hitler, however, knew that in order to maintain power in a largely Christian nation like Germany, he had to at least maintain an outward appearance of being a Christian, so he took communium nad praised Christianity in public, even though he didn't personally believe in it.

It's not like the higher-ups in religion believe in the tenet either. They've risen through the ranks of blind believers. Now they can see what a good gig they have going. Pretending to be pious is, of course, still very important.

How in hell did you turn a discussion of Angels and Demons into a 9-11 rant?

Take your medications.
