Will.I.Am is a genius.
by Texwiz
He is the smart guy who appreciates the joys of getting stupid, and letting all that intellectual shizzle go by the wayside. Meanwhile, he's putting a great deal of thought into his nonsensical creations. Plus, not everybody gets it, but he has a vision. That is so rare in pop music today that even a small vision puts an artist on another plane. I happen to think that his is a big vision.

Once again the use of the most overused word in rock criticism (Genius) is thrown out like a wet blanket.

Will.I.Am is a genius. He knows what he wants (sucess) and has figure out a formula for achieving it that requires little to no effort or intelligence to accomplish. I give him props while hating his music.

Is he planning on sharing his vision any time soon? How many crappy records does he have to make before his vision becomes apparent? I tend to think his vision is obscured by the dollar signs in his eyes.

Just an open post to all, including the writer of the article: With no apologies, I say this latest track from the Whack Hype Pees is easily the worst piece of crap I have heard since...well, since 'My Humps' first befouled the airwaves. I'm amazed when 'critics' heap praise upon such an obviously hollow act such as the Pees. Those who call william ( I refuse to use his oh-so-clever moniker) a 'genius', need to learn how to use a dictionary, look up the word, then re-assess their opinion. Of course, this is only my opinion, but damn...this is a really terrible recording (refuse to call it 'music'). 'Boom Boom Pow'? 'Future music'? Really?? I grew up with hip-hop, rock, and dance music and still love 'em all. But this is none of the above. Nor is it 'something new', or even remotely innovative. This is pure garbage-the audio equivalent of a commercial for Glad bags. I love Slate, and the Fray is always filled with enlightening exchanges. However, I have never felt more depressed about the current musical climate then when I finished reading this article. This group is easily the most overrated group of posers to come along in a long while. And if you want to call that 'hating', then so be it. What's wrong with a little hate anyway? Somehow, it's all right to hate other things that suck, like mosquitoes and fleas, so why not the Pees? They suck equally as much, if not more, because they charge you for the pain.
