Take them up on it!
by cybyoung9
If Big Pharma has set a series of savings markers down, it's logical to assume (and one would hope) that those in charge of health care reform can start a very public "scoring" system to track industry progress. This is, after all, what people do in the OMB. If this is done, we can have a very public debate and discussion of where things stand with respect to the "pledge". And while there may be many long term savings proposals included, there are a number of items that could result in short term trend changers that could be tracked. After all, if the industry isn't willing to make the short term changes needed, their place at the negotiating table and their overall influence on policy can be publicly challenged on grounds they themselves established during this glitzy presentation. We'll then have a basis for judging whether this is a "sea change' for the industry or another version of Harry and Louise

Bold and insightful post; The authors clarity on the issue of systemic discrimination and truth it brings to bear on the prospects for the future give us all reason for hope. The question is: Are people ready to hear the good news yet? I for one AM!
