Did Texas quit the union yet?

I've been kinda busy and not keeping on top of this developing story.

I was hoping we'd have some forward motion on this important initiative by now.

Last I knew, Governor Perry was claiming that the Devil or evil alien socialists from Vermont (He's not sure which.) put words in his mouth.

Nonetheless, I'm hoping for early secession.

To paraphrase Reagan:

Texas didn't leave the Union - the Union left Texas.

Far behind, as a matter of fact.

In the dust behind a pick-up, one might even say.

I think the great governor put that on hold while he solicited federal funds to deal with the swine flu.

But I'm sure as soon as that has passed he'll get it right back on track.

right back on crack is more likely ...

No, not until they get all their free stuff.

you know, like they want their share of the flu serum before they do the right thing and leave, and, oh I don't know, maybe more federal money for their bankrupt unemployment 'system' as long as the bigbadintrusive federal government doesn't force them to actually give it to like unemployed people or anything, and oh yeah, I see Oklahoma has passed some dipshit legislation giving themselves some trumped up, cockamaymee state's rights to secede or some goofball thing and rumor has it mississippi is watching closely so they can declare their independence by taking back the double sawbuck they put into public education in 1948 and finally finish building that new porch on Trent Lott's gulf property. you know, as rick perry once said, 'you can never go wrong with a good haircut.'
Ha! Again!

hereby dully informs the Union of States that it has never publicly or privately, in any way, shape, form, or manor ever relinquished its right to withdraw from said union.

As stated in its application to join said Union, that, sovereign right can not and will not be vacated by or through the use of force or coercion; visa vie civil wars and/or economic black mail.

It's not like you're a real Texan anyway.

Texas' unemployment problems (if there really are problems) can be directly chargeable to the Federal Government's inability or unwillingness to stop illegal immigration.

If they would get rid of all the illegal Mexicans then there would be full employment everywhere. So, yes, the Fed should foot the bill.

If Texas does leave the union, perhaps we can persuade them to leave Austin for us -- not really part of Texas anyway. Maybe if necessary we could trade a couple of counties of eastern New Mexico, or part of the Oklahoma panhandle......
