Lying & counting on a lazy press
by Patriotism
+2/-1 Reply

Delivering obvious (or even contradictory) lies to different audiences has never been a political problem for Bush.

The press does not have sufficient memory to point out repeated flip-flops

When some of the troops are withdrawn, Bush will claim that it is the decision of "the commanders in the field".

The President is a liar, and lying has served him well.

Get informed. Just hope he's doing all he can to win this war. Is simple ha?

What is simple is the painfully obvious truth: there is no winning this war with the current strategy. And if you read the article, it clearly states that we don't have the resources to win it...most likely with any strategy.

Withdrawal is the only path to victory
by Patriotism

Withdrawal may lead to long-term success.

Continued political posturing by GWB will continue to erode our nation's standing... Weakening the resolve of our allies, and giving comfort (and new recruits) to our enemies.

George Bush has never had the political courage to tell the American people what it would take to mount a serious effort in Iraq:

600,000 troops (with strong international support)

Competent/sincere diplomatic efforts

A generous $500 Billion in (well accounted-for) reconstruction funding (generous gifts and loans)

GWB has neither the guts nor the competence to conduct such an endeavor

Our country must return to its principles.

Instead, we are seen as weak, incompetent mean-spirited torturers. All because of Bush's towering cowardice, greed, arrogance and incompetence.

A dishonorable president cannot win a war.

The current wave of terrorism will be defeated.

The continuing war in Iraq is standing in the way of progress towards our goal.

Since you seem to be tapped into the same received wisdom that tells Bush we're winning the occupation, how about sharing it with those of us not fortunate enough to have a burning Bush sending them secret messages?

Tell us exactly how we're going to "win this war" based on our current strategy and resources.

"Occupation"

An Occupation is moving in and taking over a country that isn't ours.

Really.

Because we didn't take over. The Iraqis have their own government. Until we declare it as "ours" and actually rule over it directly, you cannot use that word.

Sorry, but you keep misusing all of those terms and its just so pathetic.

Out of curiosity, San. Our troops are shooting it up daily with the locals and our government is dictating what the Iragi government should do. If it's not an occupation what is it?

Oh that's right, it's a liberation.....forgot to check my official reality interpretation guide (provided by FOX news).

Don't feed the angry little trolls. Just note that, rather than address any of the relevent points, he's trying to institate a meaningless semantics debate. It's standard MO for San.

And his reply to this post will be:

"You're an idiot!"

Honestly, I feel sorry for him. He obviously has a severe personality disorder.
