Win Win Win
by water

All this talk about winning in Iraq and still no clear explanation of what that means. The descriptions run from establishment of a democratic state to nuking the entire country back to the stone age - big difference.

The identity of the opponent seems to an equally slippery term to define. First it was Sadam and the Republican Guard, then the Sunnis, then the Shiites, now the Iranians and Al Qaeda. Who’s next?

Come to think of it, I’m not at all sure who we are. Seems to me the ones who have the most to gain from “winning” in Iraq have something to do with the oil there. Most of those people are operating through multinational corporations. I probably pay more taxes to the US government that they do.

One thing is for sure, there are losers in this adventure. They are the Iraqi people, most of whom will never see their country at peace; the American people, who have given their young and hocked their futures; and oppressed people all over the world, who once looked to the United States as their champion.
