Kicking friends to the curb
by Greatbear452

Most politicians end up doing this sooner or later, but the republicans seem to have a rash of it lately, what with the spate of sex scandals. Both Mitt and McCain have had to drop campaign aids caught being "naughty, naughty boys" to quote Craig's statement about Clinton in the 1990s.

If the GOP hadn't spent the last 30 years positioning themselves as the morals police, perhaps they wouldn't be so open to charges of hypcrisy when they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar (or in another man's stall). I realize that America is a moralistic society, but there's also a strong undercurrent of MYOB as well. Perhaps if people spent less time worrying about what path their neighbors were taking on their way to hell and more on their own problems, we'd have less divisiveness in this country.

I know, I know, that means the administration's water carriers would have to give up their obsession with Clinton's wanky and that's never going to happen.

Romney's heave overboard one nanosecond after the story surfaced tells you all you need to know about this guy. Five sons, none in the military. Inherited wealth looking to buy the presidency. Mormon kowtowing to secular humanists when convenient, then reversing himself when convenient. Nice hair and white teeth may impress some people, but I'm not one of them. This fraud is the archetype for TS Eliot's "Hollow Men".

Here's what I find amusing: Just about every media outlet has covered the story of Edwards spending $400 on a haircut and uses it as proof that he doesn't actually care about the poor. Setting aside the fact that I doubt Sean Hannity gets his hair done at the local Supercuts and it wouldn't change Edwards' positions one inch if HE went to Supercuts, how many people saw the report that Mitt spent $300 on makeup?

Yes, makeup.

All the candidates have makeup in their budgets and expenses.  Part of the reason JFK did so well in the debate with Nixon was because he wore makeup.  The radio listeners were evenly split whereas the television watchers sided more with JFK.  Ask any political consultant/strategist about makeup and they'll tell you it's essential.
So are haircuts

My point isn't that Romney isn't the only candidate who uses makeup. My point is the double standard among the talk radio gasbags who chortle over the amount Edwards paid for a haircut but say nothing at all about a similar amount paid for something that is every bit as superficial as a haircut.

The gasbags love to go on and on about how they don't believe Edwards is sincere because, well, he's rich and has a big house. Well, gee, it's not like Mitt has ever been on food stamps either.

Double standard.
