Was America attacked after 9/11/2001?
by Scoot'r-d
No. Whether it was intelligence gathering or preemptive military actions or Homeland Security measures, it worked.

Will we be able to say the same after 4 years of Obama?

To the best of my knowledge, America has never been attacked on a day when a new episode of South Park aired. For the good of the country, Matt Stone and Trey Parker need to be extra productive until our country is safe again. You ask if our country will go another four years without a terrorist attack? I say yes, as long as we get another 1400+ new episodes of South Park over that time.

Seriously though, because 1000 programs yielded some benefit we must keep (or not complain about) them all? And I'd argue that America has suffered more damage since September 12th than on September 11th. I guess what I'm saying is I don't accept your premise and think the conclusion I draw from your statements is incorrect.

Was America attacked by terrorists? no.

Were Americans attacked?yes

Remember we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here. Bush might have kept America safe but he did not keep Americans safe.

OK. Let's do it like this.

We support international conventions and treaties so long as they apply only to other countries. If we see the need to preemptively invade, torture, use chemical weapons, etc., then it will certainly be necessary.

Let's keep our laws on the books too, but realize that a future expediency may require them to be ignored. After all, the last president set the precedent for that.

Long live the Empire!

I have a better question...

If America's immediate safety depended on YOU being waterboarded, would you do it?

What a dumb argument. It took from 1993 to 2001, the time between the first WTC bombing and the airplanes, before AlQueda attacked in the US again. So who is to be commended or blamed for that?

What worked to preempt AQ from attacking again was invading Afghanistan. But bushco dropped the ball on that so we are again facing a resurgent AQ and Taleban who are closer now to getting real nukes (from Pakistan) than they ever would have been with Saddam.

All this at what cost? We now torture our prisoners as a matter of policy? Stop trying to apologize for truly super-human incompetence.

It would seem that President Clinton's efforts to arrest terrorists kept them from attacking again as long as he was president. Is that what you are saying?

It takes a few years for terrorists to plan an attack. It took eight years from the first WTC attack to pull of the big one. We're probably about due for something in the next year or two.
Is that what your terrorist cell tells you?
by DrBritesnide
I mean the militia terrorist cell.

Ever since they found out I paid my taxes and owned only 13 guns, they shunned me. Thanks for reminding us terrorists are not just "them," but can be "us" as well.
Re: The real weapon of terriorists is FEAR,
by hellsjoker

yes, just plain old fear, we have become a nation of corrupt, greedy cowards that jump everytime a car backfires. Our airlines can never again make a profit so they may as well be nationalized, our privacy is gone, we allowed and approved the use of torture on other human beings.

Hell, our fore fathers endured problems 100 times what we have faced, fought wars that made Iraq look like a prom party yet they maintained our honor and our principles, they united with other nations of the world and fought for justice and liberty. We are such a whinning bunch of idiots that we actually allowed Bush to destroy our constitution, take away our rights and make enemies of all other nations and now we are allowing the government to put our grandchildern into debt and slavery.

All of this was done in the name of plain old FEAR and boy do they have us running.
