I'm one of those home-schooling parents

Yeah, you know: a nutcase. Plus I'm a religious and political conservative. Yep, total whacko. And it still would never even occur to me to strip-search my 13-year-old. Perhaps it's my weird ideas about modesty, and privacy, and personal dignity. You know, that crazy old-fashioned stuff.

The real kicker for me is that the whole thing was about...crack? nope. PCP? nope. speed? nope. ecstacy? nope. pot? nope. booze? nope. steroids? nope. black markers? nope.

Well, what horrible thing was she selling? Oh, she wasn't selling? OK, fine, what horrible addictive/harmful thing was she giving away? IBUPROFEN????? You mean, the stuff 13-year-old girls use when they get menstrual cramps? THAT ibuprofen??? They strip-searched a girl because of ibuprofen????????

That principle's face is lucky she wasn't my daughter.

And unless my memory of the case is wrong, she actually WASN'T even giving out the evil dreaded ibuprofin. The snitch just wanted to get her in trouble. Not that it matters, even if it were true and she was supplying the ENTIRE CLASS of menstruating girls with ibuprofin, a strip search was unwarranted.

I applaud your dedication in homeschooling (provided you're actually schooling, many do an excellent job but some not so much, from what I hear). Given my disappointment in the curriculum of my kids' first school, I was tempted to do the same...but I have to work to support my family.

You don't have to be a religious conservative to abhor strip searching teenage girls. That is the problem too often in this country these days when one side or the other tries to use an issue to divide.

Also, keep in mind that the present court is dominated by justices appointed by religious conservatives.
