I still can't resolve the fact that Eric Harris was compassionate and self-aware enough to quote Shakespeare in his video to his parents -- "Good wombs have borne bad sons" -- as a way of apologizing to them, and yet he still had it in him to do what he did. Of course, there are even more eloquent video statements left by Palestinian suicide bombers, and of course there are many instances of this sort of disconnect in wartime. But I don't get any of that and never will. Of course, I don't understand why my grandmother committed suicide either. It's the anniversary of Columbine and Hitler's birthday and I just don't get it.
