poll questions

If you want to say lots of people believe something, just refer to a poll which has asked a hopelessly broad question, then interpret the response as answering the far narrower and more outrageous point in contention.

The article refers to a Zogby poll question thus:

A 2007 Zogby poll found that 26 percent of Americans believe the government "let it happen."
As phrased, you have to answer yes if you think is possible that by differing diligence, skill, or almost just plain luck at any critical point the government might have interrupted the critical train of events which ended in fallen buildings.

But the poll result gets quoted in support of claims that amazingly high fractions of the American public think our government "did it", which is quite drastically another thing, entirely.

Shame on the Explainer for sailing too close to this common shoal without even bothering to comment on the problem. At worse, I fear the Explainer may not have even noticed it.

Amen...I saw a poll claiming 90% of the public thought "the government had a hand in it", which by researching the poll meant that the government could have intervened at some point and changed the outcome, whether before or after the event. The poll results were published as being that the U.S. was "behind" it, and 90% of people believed it. Just a silly poll.

And if only 26% of people believe that the government "let it happen" with such broad definitions, only a few skeptics truly believe that the government made it happen. Those are the people destined for the asylum, for they truly have no faith and believe that a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" could kill its own people. Pathetic.

Well Bushco sent 4265 Americans to their deaths in Iraq with many more wounded, to say nothing about civilian casualties. What makes you think they would not hesitate to promote a fallacious reason to invade Iraq knowing it would cost American lives?
I agree that the polling regarding 9/11 has been worthless

to date and argued for better questions when 911truth.org hired Zogby to conduct their last poll on the subject.

But my experience with the general public indicates that at least 1/3 of Americans know that the Twin Towers and WTC 7 were brought down with controlled demolitions and more than 50% suspect that some elements of the U.S. government were involved.

That fact that reliable polls show that only 16% of the population still fully accept the government's conspiracy theory is quite telling, in and of itself.

I think the reason more specific and credible polls have not been done is self-evident.

We need a complete and transparent investigation into the crimes of 9/11/01.

Cheers!
