It's amusing that this article entirely fails to mention that Egyptologists have never found any proof whatsoever of a Jewish slave-population in Israel, nor of any slave revolt followed by an enormous desertion, nor of any other element of the story of Exodus. Unless one believes in a conspiracy of silence, it is most reasonable to conclude that the story is entirely false. Whatever scientific explanations are offered labour under the assumption that something like what is described in the book of Exodus is historical, when in fact it is entirely fictitious.
