I'll go ahead and disagree with that: IMHO Ms. Miers and Mr. Gonzales performed exactly the jobs that George W. Bush intended them to perform. That is one of the reasons why he stood behind them for so long.

I'm assuming you mean Bush hired them to do the job of being "yes men" and to serve as lightning rod to deflect shots against him and Cheney?
