On a day where the President was taking a townhall about the economy, when the CEO of AIG was testifying before Congress about the bonus mess, what does the O'Reilly show on Fox lead with? Well, since the guest host is Laura Ingraham, it must be, of course, none of those things! Yes, the corporations are screwing the American people and we are in a serious economic crisis, yet a catfight between two pundits is far more important. This is true: Right after the President's townhall where he answered questions about the economy from mostly laid off people, I switched on Fox for the other side's reaction to the townhall, thinking foolishly that they would be live covering it, like CNN is doing. But no, there was Ms. Ingraham upping the feud with Ms. McCain on O'Reilly. She quoted Ms. McCain dissing Coulter, saying that Republicans need to be more moderate in order to survive, or get more votes or something. Ingraham, I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, looked at the camera incrediously and said something like, (paraphrase) "More Moderate? The Republicans had John McCain, a moderate, and they lost the last election" meaning or implying that they should become more right-wing. Yes, Independents thought that the Republicans weren't extreme enough, so they voted for...a Democrat in overwhelming numbers, someone who is the exact opposite of a right winger! That's how to win. Seriously, this is a serious question, with all due respect, to any FOX viewer, any O"Reily viewer who saw this or thinks Glenn Beck is a prophet, does this nonsense, incoherent, and insane argument (or any other argument involving the words socialism and totalitarianism--words that Mr. Beck uses frequently to describe where we are going) actually make sense to you? Can you defend why this thinking and this woman and the subject of her show--on a day when far more important things are going on--appeal to you?
