If Hitchens' neo-con ravings infuriate you ...

... the best thing to do is avoid his articles!

Don't click on them to open them. Slate authors are paid by the click, which is why they so often write provocative headlines for what are some fairly listless, navel-gazing pieces. You may get angry every time you read Hitchens' columns, but he's crying all the way to the bank. Same goes for that hack Mickey Kaus -- the best revenge is to ignore them. Hit them where it hurts -- the pocketbook.

Translation: Don't even click on an article unless you're certain that you're already in 100% agreement with all of the ideas therein and in ideological solidarity with the author. To be on the safe side, try to avoid reading anything at all until you have it confirmed that it does not in any way challenge any preconceived notion you have about politics, society, and culture. Make certain to call anyone who does not follow this advice "ignorant."

Nice strawman there

Not what he was saying, but I'm sure you find it comforting, anyway...

Thrillhouse's point was that authors we find infuriating or puerile are often authors whose world view don't coincide with ours, and rather than simply ignoring their articles it might be beneficial to get another point of view from time to time.
