Hummers will go the way of Speedos, Fu-Manchu Mustaches and
by muzza

Argosy magazine --- the place that His Holiness Sir Ronald Reagan called "the industrial scrap heap."

You might find some deep discounted, shrink wrapped Hummers on the Shopping Channel in the next few weeks.

Shipping will be extra.

Odd thing is, 'round here, Hummers are always piloted by slightly embarassed blonde trophy wives, always with the enormous blonde trophy dog with the head bobbing up in the tailgate window.

Accompanying the matching blondes units is the decal of the pee-pee boy on his knees before a crucifix. You wonder what this kid is praying about.

"Sorry Jesus for peeing on Ford products. I know that Dodge trucks are totally piss-worthy, but Fords? Sorry."

No, Hummer as icon won't be missed.

What was really scary was the fu-manchu 'staches WITH the Speedos. I mean, I used to wear a Speedo as a lifeguard because they were a lot safer & all, but never with a fu.

Too bad they've been replaced by over-long bermudas that show butt crack & goatees.

I doubt it, because the Dept. of Defense needs the Hummer manufacturing capacity for military vehicles. Perhaps GM can sell it to Oshkosh Corp., another maker of DOD-type vehicles. Whether or not the brand survives as a civilian brand is another matter. The good news is that there isn't a dealer on every other corner. But, like every other GM brand, there are 3X to 6X more dealers than GM needs. Perhaps it could be folded into the commercial truck part of GM. No matter what happens, former retail dealers for GM, Chrysler and Ford will be turned into a wonderful network of banquet halls or maybe roller rinks--with lots of jobs lost. But that's what happens when a company expects a 16-million-unit car market, but demand is about 8 million--all augmented by other carmakers, many of which are building here in the U.S.
