Obviously the Evangelicals don't understand the words or actions of Christ. Kindness and forgiveness are alien feelings and they build a society of scorn and abuse. They cry when they are at the receiving end but the rest of the Evangelicals don't seem to want to change after looking at the pain of one of their own. Sad.

Christ was kind and forgiving and all those who choose to follow him should be as well. But Haggard does not seem to understand or live out other parts of Jesus' message that are even more fundamental to following him. Haggard does not seem repentant. I do not understand the depths of this man's soul but his actions even after having been caught have been deceptive and selfish. He did not disclose the relationship he had with at least one member of his staff which was wrong and innapropriate regardless of what weight you give the bibles teachings on homosexuality. And his remark that if he was a CEO he would have been back to work in a month shows how unrepentant his heart really is. He hurt and betrayed his congregation. If he was repentant of his sin they should welcome him back as a member of the church but how does he expect them to take him back as a pastor?
