Since Christ The Hitch makes his living, well, living practically every day in Washington DC, figuratively if not literally, it is nice to read that he had a moment to hobnob and rub elbows with the Hoi Polloi of the Obama Campaign at the freezing cold and hours long Inauguration Ceremonies. Nothing like a police presence to put a damper on the party atmosphere. Here's hoping Our Man in D.C. Hitchens made it into one of those "Happening" Inauguration Balls -- Democratic Party, heh heh, get it? -- after hours.
Chris persists in his Paul of Tarsus pre-conversion "we are many and growing in numbers!" conceit about his own growing unbelief. He disses the Black American Churches, so critical and central to the progress of Black Americans, not to say the rest of us, as regards civic progress these last several decades. Then Chris the Hitch cites the following passage from President Obama's speech:
"We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its
defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing
terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is
stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will
defeat you."
I suppose Atheists can be permitted to interpret this statement as an endorsement of their growing numbers and dispersed causes. I suspect that Hitchens specifically expects his loyal readership to impute a rebuke to believers everywhere, possibly to the Black Church or even Rick Warren specifically, in this Obama tropism or statement. The guy is that blindered, that he thinks the crowds were all with him on this clarion call to unbelief, found specifically, Hosana in the Highest, right there in the text of Obama's speech!
Then again, American Homosexuals, another growing tribe here in America today, like the Atheists and other "Scientists," might well conclude Obaman Rhetoric constitutes a defense of their interests and a put-down of those who would oppose them. Evil Fundamentalists of Christopher Hitchen's nightmares and Anglo American modern conceits generally, never seem to have a name or a denomination. They always seem located somewhere overseas, "over there" if not foreign, than certainly not anyone we know personally here in America. Oh my, you certainly cannot tread lightly or "turn the other cheek" so to speak when it comes to that Tribe of Fundamentalists, more fear inspiring for the essence of their undefined and therefore unlimited, nefarious and ever threatening Community. Fundamentalists are surely foreign, if not easily defined as foreigners. Aren't they?
Well, not exactly. Any Americans from 50 years ago, might well be so defined. I would define myself that way, today. Guess my age cohort is thereby alluded to: I am in my 50s, having been born in the Decade of the 1950s, curiously enough, like Christopher "Brit Yank" Hitchens.

Restating the new coin of this American Realm, I would like to reinterpret Obama's phrase by my own pro-Life, anti-Abortion lights. I would address it to unbelievers, religion baters, those with fantasies, ideologies and policies of population control, towards bigots everywhere here in America and Beyond, to those who kill innocent unborn children in their own mother's wombs - to include the mothers themselves - and to those who oppose the will of God, as we well know that will to be.
The pretend world of not knowing God is a childish world of spoiled brats and communal idiots, who fawn over one another's pronouncements in mutual circles of jerkiness or feminist "learn all about ourselves" mirror sessions.
The Black Church here in America opposes abortion policies for every good reason, not least, it is a direct assault on Black people here and around the world.
Anglo Americans are as fearful of Roman Catholics, as they are of Roman or Italian Americans. The case in point, is that nutty and law breaking founder of the so-called "Planned Parenthood" organization, Margaret Sanger. She reminds me ever so much, of our modern life extinquishing Crusader and now Michigan Convict, Jack Kevorkian. Remember him? I wonder how comfortable Christopher Hitchens would be, say, standing next to him at Obama's Washington Mall Inauguration Ceremony?
Margaret Sanger walked ignorantly through the Italian immigrant slums of New York City, and thought she had a solution. Amazingly, she came up with it all by herself, within her own rather feeble and uneducated, not to say illiberal mindset.
Low and Behold! Today, Margaret Sanger still has her army of minions, and they seem to include both Barack Obama, and Christopher Hitchens! Small world, indeed. LIBERTYVILLE DEMONSTRATION
