From a geek's perspective

Dear Stressed, Angry and Conflicted,

I'm a realist. If you need this job, you can't find another and you feel that speaking up would cause you to lose it then you should keep quiet. I doubt that speaking up is going to change their minds. I suggest keeping the job search open. Certainly the economy is in the toilet, but you never know when an opportunity will land in your lap.

Dear Hurting,

Shut up and and grow. Seriously. Are you 8? "Santa didn't get me a pony! Waah!" You should get over it, but you don't need to accept that he's selfish. Not buying presents because he's busy caring for your ailing mother is not selfish.

Dear Candid Camera,

Why be more polite than they are? I'd either shout, "No!" or "Shut up!" But then again, physicists aren't known for their stunning social skills.

Dear Middle-Class Daughter-in-Law,

If you can afford it, you should contribute. That is what family is for.

Absolutely!

1) Jobs are hard to come by these days, learn to ignore other people's comments

2) Hurting is a childish brat who needs to get over herself

3) Tell the sexist jerks to go to hell

4) Another selfish brat who needs to get over herself
