"Ghetto Latte"?
by stargirl

They're wondering if it's racist?

Hmm... Using a term that is largely associated with negative black sterotypes and equating it with the action of taking advantage of a company for profit aka stealing....

Alot of the time when people ask that question, they already know the answer.

So for all those who still aren't sure, I'm here to tell you that yes it is indeed very racist.

I cant describe just how tired I am of the race issue. It is a non-issue. Everyone is going to be subject to someone elses
disdain no matter what hey look like or where they come from.

And if anyone believes that one race is better than another, they need to find a real way to contribute to society, instead of just standing around feeling proud of something they did not do.

Personally, I do not think that was meant to be racist. There are many races of people in ghettos. Its a lifestyle. You wont find 'ghetto' on a list of possible ehtnicities.

race? prejudice? fairness? equality? tolerance? personal respect?

-- are non-issues, says the nice white lady.

"There are many races of people in ghettos. Its a lifestyle."

DO you know what ghetto even means?

A ghetto is an area where people from a specific racial or ethnic background live as a group in seclusion, voluntarily or involuntarily.

Its not a lifestyle, you twit, its a social and economic phenomenon.

Hmm - so you're arguing that a ghetto is an undesirable phenomenon on one hand, and yet attacking those who disparage ghettos on the other. The term "ghetto latte" definitely plays on stereotypes, but I wouldn't say that the name is racist in itself.

Are white people really this clueless?

Was she disparaging the ghetto? No -- she was redefining what the term meant, thereby allowing her to dismiss teh concerns of other commenters as non-issues. It's called using a Fallacious Argument based on a straw-man).

So..hmmm, you want take me to task for my comment but comments like "Oh I am just so tired of the race issue," from a someone OTHER than a person of color - oh well, that is fine.

Again, nothing to see here folks.
