Just boggles the mind how stupid, callous, egocentric and unloving these people seem to be. Please look up the dictionary definition of the word family since somehow you missed it "growing up."

No kidding! I was thinking about the same thing. Break out the selfish meter. The girl who is mad her dad didn't give her a gift! Please....my dad hasn't given me a gift for Christmas and I don't know how long and I still go out of my way to give him a great gift. It is better to give then recieve....that LW should learn that. To LW#4....I help my parents out all the time....I feel it is my way of saying thank you for giving birth to me.

That was my first thought. With letter #2--come on, don't you get too old to get Christmas presents at some point? At the very least, too old to keep a tally of who did or did not give you presents. At that age, I had already accumulated too much shit--if I needed more I could buy it myself.

And #4--Maybe you want to be the one to tell the in-laws "This is all your fault for breeding so damn much."

Totally agree! I mean, I'm just out of college but in recent years my parents have given less to me to give more to my brother's and stepsister's children and I'm ok with that because they are little kids. I'm more than excited to get my yearly sweater and piece of kitchenware. If they didn't get me anything at all I would be ok with that too. I'd enjoy just being in their warm company, eating the holiday home cooked meals I only get when I go home and spending time with them. My dad also works 60-70 hours each week but I know that they are stretched thin trying to help other family that has been affected by the economy. I'm glad they are able to do that and proud that if I want to I can make myself happy with money that I earn.

Yup, the selfish meter is in overdrive right now. All of these LWs are on the selfish side. True LW # 1 has a legitimate gripe. No one want to hear that trailer trash talk everyday, but 2, 3 and 4 all need to grow the F up and stop bitching!
